5 Triggers That Can Provoke Asthma

Posted on June 29, 2020August 28, 2020 by catheri

5 Triggers That Can Provoke Asthma If you suffer from asthma, sometimes it looks like the provoking triggers are lurking from every corner. There are certain risks that you might not even consider suspicious and the only one to blame for exposing your tender respiratory tract to those risks is – you. Well, the good news is that you can at least do something about it. And the first thing to do is to try and recognize the dangers before they hit. So here is the list of potential triggers likely to provoke symptoms in patients who suffer from asthma. You should know that those symptom triggers are not the actual cause of inflammation; they just make it worse and more difficult to handle. Let’s take a look at what those are.

Cigarettes

Smoking is not good for anyone, we all know that. But in this case, smoking is especially harmful, even if it’s secondhand. Passive equals active smoking in this equation and there is only one way out of this situation: go away, as far as possible from the source of smoke. It might be your only decent chance to avoid attack.

Cold Weather

Sometimes, a walk in the crisp winter air is highly recommended, even by doctors. But it’s not for everyone. And if you struggle with respiratory issues, cold air could present a serious risk for your breathing capacity. Therefore it’s better to minimize your physical activities outdoors during the winter and keep a scarf over your mouth and nose whenever you go outside in the cold.

Chemicals

Asthma patients are extremely sensitive to smells and odors in their environment. The reason is simple: with asthma, anything you inhale counts. Therefore you should be very cautious even with commonly used chemicals in every day routine such as perfumes, house cleaning solutions or air fresheners.

Physical Efforts

Exercise might be good for your body shape, but not for your inflamed respiratory ways. Still, you should be able to exercise moderately if your asthma is under proper control. If you’re having trouble breathing while performing your exercise routine, you should see your doctor in order to make the necessary adjustments to your usual therapy or your exercise regiment.

Emotional Turbulences

Stress is not good for anyone. But for a person with respiratory problems it can mean trouble. Emotional drama can easily trigger a heavy seizure so watch out and try to find time for practicing some calming techniques such as yoga or meditation.
